Teaching Fundamentals

The new age of basketball has taken a toll on coaches around the country.

Kids are now more inclined to focus on themselves than working as a team towards a common goal. Fundamental skills such as teamwork, communication, passing, and defense are now placed second to individual stats. 360 Hoops was designed to help coaches break down these tendencies and naturally nurture the growth of fundamental skills that are essential for success on and off the basketball court.

Focusing on Defense

360 Hoops competition was designed to give coaches the ability to focus on defensive play. Since our 3-on-3 “king of the court” format gives teams the ability to score on any basket making it harder to score and harder to defend. Players have to constantly communicate on defense, be focused on avoiding screens, and quickly make switches. Coaches can even format this play so that teams getting a defensive stop receive 2 points while teams that score a basket only get a single point. After all, “defense wins games.”

Taking Away 1-on-1 Play

Players in this day and age want to shoot 3-pointers and score every chance they get. What coaches so desperately want to teach players is that teamwork is essential to winning games. On a 360 Hoop, elite players are not able to dominate the game because of the size of the court and the constant movement going on. Players that have a desire to win now have to learn to move the ball effectively, get to the basket, and work as a team.

Effective Passing and Getting Open

When playing our competition format on 360 Hoops, players will find it much easier to score and win games if they can pass the ball effectively. However, since the hoop sits in the center of the circle, players are forced to be creative in their passive, ultimately, honing their skills for traditional 5-on-5 basketball.

Likewise, players without the ball have to learn how to get open. Hustling and making smart moves will lead to receiving passes from teammates and getting open shots.

We want to provide coaches with a tool that can help teach fundamentals and 360 Hoops has proven to naturally develop these skills even without much coaching input.
